about

Track 7 from "rut": I’ve been watching a lot of 80’s videos and I’ve started to notice the glaring similarities of the mood of the music. Who hasn’t felt like an 80’s song at least once in their life? Pop it & lock it.

lyrics

Wearing shades in a smoke filled bar
Woman gyrating on the roof of my car
Slumping down in a telephone booth
Turning my head to avoid the truth
Looking in the mirror, I’m amazed at my hair
Popping up my collar like I haven’t a care
Geometric shapes colored day-glo hues
With squiggly lines forming white man blues
I’m feeling like another 80’s song
A metaphor for you and me is a lot of cold war imagery
I know who I’m supposed to be despite my attempt at androgyny
Staring in the mirror reflecting my rage
Sporting these clothes far too young for my age
Putting on a headband ‘cause it looks kick ass
Feel the chorus coming up, now punching the glass
I’m feeling like another 80’s song
